EUROVISIÓN 2017 EN KIEV(I)

En esta segunda vez que Ucrania organizaba el concurso fue Salvador Sobral, de Portugal, quien ganó emocionando a todo el mundo con su canción “Amar Pelos Dois”, sin necesidad de otra compañía que su sensible presencia. Consiguió que triunfara la música por encima del espectáculo televisivo porque su canción enlaza directamente con la esencia de lo que una vez fue Eurovisión, un festival de la canción popular europea, donde cada país se distinguía con sus aportaciones. Portugal puede reconocerse en la canción ganadora porque tiene el aroma del fado y fue cantada en portugués, llevando la contraria al pensamiento dominante y al imperativo del inglés…

Portugal fue seguido por Bulgaria y Moldavia, Suecia, con su saber hacer en escena, quedó en quinto lugar, detrás de Bélgica, e Italia, que finalmente ocupó el sexto lugar, a pesar de haberse señalado como ganadora potencial. España quedó en último lugar con 5 puntos y sin duda recibió una merecida lección, no sólo por la gran polémica que se produjo cuando fue elegido como representante para el concurso Manel Navarro, sino porque, a mi juicio, debiera preocuparse por la imagen que da en Europa y en el resto del mundo, máxime cuando tenemos grandes cantantes y artistas en nuestro país…

Portugal was followed by Bulgaria and Moldova, Sweden was in fifth place, behind Belgium, and Italy finally occupied the sixth place, despite being designated as a potential winner by the press, fans and bookmakers.  Spain was in last place with 5 points, and the performance of Manel Navarro no doubt received a well-deserved lesson, not only because of the controversy that occurred when he was elected as a representative for the contest, but because in my opinion, it must worry about the image given in Europe and the rest of the world, especially when we have great singers and artists in our country…

Pero ha sido el joven estudiante portugués de psicología, cuya pasión es la música y que estudió en el Taller dels Músics de Barcelona y en EEUU, el que ha dejado a media Europa sin palabras. Su delicadeza a la hora de interpretar la canción, su puesta en escena sencilla y sin ningún tipo de artificios es lo que según los expertos, le ha conferido la grandeza que Portugal había ansiado en Eurovisión desde hace años. Ha ganado sin algarabías, confetis ni majorettes  y sólo se desvistió para enseñar una camiseta de SOS Refugees. El portugués que odia los festivales, que nunca en su vida vio una edición de Eurovisión y que no enchufa la tele en su casa, ha ganado el festival de festivales nada más y nada menos que con su voz y una canción de su hermana Luisa. Muchos fans se emocionaron cuando se unió en el escenario con ella, quien había escrito y compuesto la canción y que tuvo que actuar en su lugar durante parte de los ensayos, ya que Salvador no pudo estar presente en Kiev durante las dos semanas anteriores al concurso debido a sus problemas de salud. La lección es valiosa ya que Sobral podía haber alterado su canción, adaptándola como le habían sugerido a la línea pomposa del festival, pero en un acto de coherencia artística decidió mantenerla tal y como fue concebida. Una canción que partiendo del fado, envuelve por su elegancia instrumental con un toque de cool jazz, ese estilo refinado que es como seda para los oídos y que nos baña en una sugerente mezcla de fado ligero y bossa nova. Sobral es música y la música es identidad y aventura, ojalá esto sea un punto de inflexión y no una mera anécdota para el futuro de Eurovisión.

Desde aquí mi enhorabuena a Portugal, me emociona profundamente que haya ganado, porque amo ese país y sus gentes y para mí fue una gran noticia adornada, con las bonitas palabras finales de Salvador Sobral:

“La música no son fuegos artificiales, la música es sentimiento, tratemos de cambiar esto y traer de vuelta a la música, que es lo que de verdad importa, vivimos en un mundo de música desechable, sin ningún contenido, así que creo que esta podría ser una victoria de las personas que hacen una música que quiere decir algo”.
